Email Marketing Pro add-on · BYOK

/apps/email-marketing

Email Marketing lets you design email templates in a visual builder and send bulk campaigns to your CRM audiences. Crucially, it is bring-your-own-key (BYOK) only: every campaign sends from your own verified Resend account and domain — there is no shared platform sender. That means your campaigns come from your domain (better deliverability and trust), and you're never sending marketing mail through someone else's reputation. This guide covers the whole path: enabling the app, the exact BYOK setup (what to paste and where), building a template, and sending a campaign.

BYOK is mandatory here. Until the workspace has its own Resend API key + a verified sender, campaigns cannot send — the app shows “Configure your Resend account to start sending.” There is deliberately no platform fallback for marketing mail.

Step 1 — Enable the app

Email Marketing is a Pro add-on. Enable it from the App Launcher (or Profile → Modules): find it under Available to add and click enable. As a paid add-on it goes through checkout (bound to a Stripe product); once billing is set up it becomes active and appears in your launcher. A member without owner rights can request it instead (the owner is notified to approve).

Step 2 — Set up your Resend account (BYOK) — exactly what to add

This is the part that unlocks sending. You need a Resend account with a verified sending domain, then you paste its key and sender into MaterialsHub.

2a. Get the pieces from Resend (outside MaterialsHub)

  1. Create a free account at resend.com.
  2. Verify your sending domain. In Resend → DomainsAdd Domain, enter the domain you'll send from (e.g. yourcompany.com). Resend gives you DNS records (SPF/DKIM, and a return-path). Add those records at your DNS host and click Verify. This is what proves you own the domain and lets mail be signed as yours.
  3. Create an API key. In Resend → API KeysCreate API Key (send-only is enough). Copy it now — Resend shows it once.

Your From email must be on the verified domain (e.g. news@yourcompany.com). A Gmail/Outlook address won't work as a marketing sender — that's exactly what domain verification prevents.

2b. Add them in MaterialsHub

Where: Profile → Keys & Connections → the workspace email card (the Email Marketing app also surfaces this as its Setup step / “One step to activate.”). Fill in:

FieldWhat to enter
Use my Resend accountTurn this on (otherwise the “Platform default sender” is used, which Email Marketing doesn't allow).
Resend API KeyPaste the key you created in Resend.
From emailAn address on your verified domain — e.g. news@yourcompany.com.
From nameThe display name recipients see — e.g. Your Company.

Save. The status flips from “Configure your Resend account…” to “Your Resend sender is configured” / “Ready to send.” Campaigns will now send from your domain.

Sending limits. Volume is metered by a platform-controlled daily cap (a safety ceiling on how many a workspace can send per day) on top of whatever your own Resend plan allows. The key + sender are configured per workspace, so each tenant sends under its own identity and reputation.

Step 3 — Build an email template

Open the app's Templates tab and design your email in the visual builder (the same drag-and-drop GrapesJS builder used across the platform) — layout, images, buttons and text, no HTML required. Save it; it becomes selectable when you create a campaign. Each template can carry a default subject (a campaign can override it).

Step 4 — Create and send a campaign

On the Campaigns tab, click New Email Campaign and fill in:

FieldWhat it does
Campaign Name *Your internal name (e.g. Summer Sale 2026).
Email Template *The template to send.
Subject LineOptional — overrides the template subject for this send.
Preview TextThe snippet shown after the subject in the inbox.
RecipientsPick one or more CRM Categories as the audience, and/or paste Additional emails (one per line or comma-separated). The category audience is resolved to your CRM contacts at send time.
Send now / ScheduledSend immediately, or pick a Send Date & Time to schedule it (a background processor sends scheduled campaigns when they're due).

Your CRM categories are how you segment — build the audience there once and reuse it across campaigns.

Step 5 — Track delivery

Each campaign shows Delivery stats pulled back from Resend — how many were delivered, and the outcomes — so you can see how a send actually performed rather than just that it was queued.

Recap: enable the app → verify a domain + create a key in Resend → paste Use my Resend account + key + From-email + From-name in Profile → Keys → build a template → create a campaign targeting CRM categories → send or schedule → watch delivery stats. Everything sends as you.
